Comment: I received this CD within 3 days on the 2 day shipping. Other than that, the CD is brand new. I remember having this as a cassette tape 20 plus years ago. Brings back smiles :)

Summary: Dang this! 2008-04-28
Comment: Roger Miller is sadly underappreciated. Roger is of a great American tradition of wit with pointed polical commentary. As populist as Mark Twain, Will Rogers, and as deep/weird as Wm. Faulkner.
Roger could rhyme as well as Dylan, be as funny, be as clever a social commentator. Listen to "Dang Me", a play on the folk obsession w/death. Listen to "King of the Road", an ironic lyric that describes Hobo life as well as Kerouac.
Roger got popular with novelity songs, "Can't Rollerskate in a Buffalo Herd", etc. and got a mid-summer TV Show in 1966. "Muppets" were prominate, esp. Ralph the Dog, but Roger, with his grin and grace always held forth and made sure that music was held high.
Roger helped new good songwriters. He sang "Little Green Apples", gave Bobby Russell a hit, "Me and Bobby McGee", gave Kris Kristofferson a couple of coins.
Roger also wrote book/lyrics for "Big River", a Broadway hit based on "Huckleberry Finn"
This CD has most of the hits, not enough of all his oever.
Roger Miller needs a box set!
There is not much of Roger on CD this is for those who only want to hear "Chug a Lug"
Hah! and who doesn't want that?!
