This is the old-time sung favorite hymns I used to listen to while young and at home. Hasn't lost any of it's inspiring message in 30 years time. Shows respect and love for God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. The deep timbre of Tennessee Ernie Ford and the melodic harmonizations of the other voices ring out to touch my heart even today!I just LOVE to listen to it!

This album is realeased by Mike Curb in memory of his father. These are his favorite songs by his favorite singer. The only complaint one can have is that there is only 14 songs. This might have been done, because many of Ernie's religous lps had 14 songs.Nethertheless this collection is enough to make Dad proud. Six of the songs come from Ernie's "Sing A Hymn With Me". Since they're not found on the the Amazing Grace CD set (also available at amazon.com) this set makes a nice addition."Faith of our Fathers" is the title track of an overlooked 1967 album. I consider it to be real bonus of this set.

i am not particularly religious in the organized, go-to-church sense, but was raised on these songs when i was a kid, in the 50's and 60's, and grew to love them and got a good part of what ever religion i now have from them; this album hits most of the high spots of the TEF hymn album we had when i was a boy. i remember two TEF albums back then; one of hymns and one of spirituals. neither is currently available and some of the songs are not on any of currently available albums. I cannot find 'noah found grace in the eyes of the lord" or 'walk in jeruselum just like john" anywhere and "the ninety and nine" I believe is available on another collection.however, i heartily recommend this album as a good cross section of TEF's hymns and introduction to his religious music. as with elvis, hymns and gospel were TEF's first love. this album is a good quality recording and captures his rich baritone. the songs are all familiar hymns; you will probably sing...Read more
