As soon as I heard about the formation of the Boxcars, I couldn't wait til their CD was released! This is a fantastic group of musicians. Adam Steffey (former Mtn Heart powerhouse man and one-time Alison Krauss sideman) brings his sensitive but show-stopping mandolin into the mix. John Bowman (The Isaacs, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver) is back in business on fiddle and adds his high, sweet (if a bluegrass male vocalist's voice can be called sweet!) voice. Ron Stewart is of course always astounding on the banjo, and this band is the perfect setting for him. (One of the best ensembles I've heard him in!) The clincher for me was hearing that Keith Garrett was the lead singer. He is one of my favorite singers, with a deep, rich-but-earthy voice that sends chills down my back when he finds his groove.
Basically, the Boxcars are a supergroup. I don't know how long they'll last, but while they're together we need to listen to as much of them as we can get!

Every so often a new band takes the bluegrass world by storm and creates a new excitement about the music. The Boxcars are one of those bands and this is their first CD. This band has seasoned professionals with top-notch talent both vocally & instrumentally. The CD has energy. The songs are interesting. Highly recommended.

Loved this first album by a smooth and talented contemporary bluegrass band. Bright future for this "super group", just hope they stay together for a while.
