Classic Kinky performance,

As the title humorously implies, this disc is a collection of short recordings from Kinky and Little Jewford's recent concert tour of Europe. Having just seen Kinky and Little Jewford perform live in Austin, TX, I am happy to say that the recordings do a good job of recreating what it was like to see the performance in person. (The disc does not come with beer and cigars; you have to provide your own). The CD has 32 tracks, most of them only 1 or 2 minutes long. If you buy this CD expecting to hear many of Kinky's songs, you will be dissappointed. Instead, what you get here is a great collection of Kinky's stories, one-liners, and philosophical observations on life interspersed with a few pretty good tunes. This is not the first Kinky Friedman CD you should buy; there are several other compilations of his songs that do a better job introducing the range of Kinky's music (Old Testaments and New Revelations is my favorite, along with the tribute CD, Pearls in the Snow). This new disc...Read more

Kinky Friedman and Little Jewford are probably an acquired taste for many; personally, I think they're a hoot. They point up one of the really great qualities of Texas: if you let it all hang out, Texans are inclined to accept you as a kindred spirit.About half of the CD is comedy bits of one sort or another from live shows in Europe, so if you are looking for a full slate of music, you might want to consider another Kinkster CD. That said, what's on here is a good listen. It has a lot of very short tracks with variable volume, so it doesn't work well in a changer unless the rest of the loadout is other Kinky Friedman stuff (a good idea). I'd rate it PG-13 in terms of language and sexually oriented content. If one is easily offended by politically incorrect utterances, they won't like it at all--those who like raucous, no-sacred-cows humour will love it. Small appetizer: Kinky mentions that he comes from Kerrville, TX. He refers to himself and others from there as...Read more

If youj are expecting classic Kinky Friedman , this is not the album for you. The album is a collection of takling and introductions with just four songs on the album. If you are a consumate Kinky Friedman fan, as I, you would appreciate this album for part of your collection. Otherwise, try one of his many other albums and youynwon't go wrong.
