If You like "Cowboy" music and stories this is as good as it gets. Red is pure Cowboy and this is some of His best work. His songs and poems all ring true to the West that they portray. Excellent!!

My wife and I saw Red perform with his western swing band a few months ago in San Angelo, Texas, at a charity benefit, and bought this double-CD there as a souvenir. Red was a lot of fun in person, with good dance music, a totally unpretentious manner, and a generous attitude. This set combines some poetry with many classic cowboy and western songs. It gets better with every listen, and is well worth the Amazon asking price, if you like this genre. His versions of "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" and "When the Work's All Done This Fall" and "Little Joe the Wrangler" and "Strawberry Roan" and "Tennesse Stud" and "Red-Headed Stranger" are almost the equal of of versions I have by Willie Nelson, Eddy Arnold, Ed McCurdy, Chris LeDoux, Michael Martin Murphy and other singers whose vocal careers drew more attention than Red's. Couldn't find this CD anywhere. I was so happy to find it here. Made a perfect Christmas gift for my dad. He was so happy to finally have it as we searched for more than a year. Received just in time for Christmas. Thanks!!
