They are one of the best southern gospel groups around. Their album Driven is one of my favorites. It is very similar to the older ones but there are a few new things that make it great. One of the older albums called The Walk has a song called He is greater that is really good. It is the song that made The Walk, but now there is a song called Sacrifice of Praise. It is one of the best songs that the Crabb Family has done. It made the Driven cd the best. My two favorite tunes on this cd are Promised Land and Sacrifice of Praise. Promised Land is a very upbeat song that talks about a place we all can't wait to get. It is talking about heaven and how wonderful it is going to be. Sacrifice of praise is just a song to get you and makes you praise our wonderful God. When you are down listen to these songs and it will really lift your spirits. Both of these songs have the thing that helps you know who they are. It has the great guitar,...Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Editor "SoGospelNews.com" (Murfreesboro, TN) - See all my reviews This review is from: Driven (Audio CD) I am always amazed at new Crabb Family recordings. I think I know what to expect, but they always seem to come up with something new and something great. This CD is no exception. There is literally something for everyone on this album. You will hear some Country Gospel, Southern Gospel, Inspirational, and some Black Gospel. This is an album with a lot of variety. It is an interesting concept, because the Crabb Family is trying to broaden their fan base by reaching a more diverse audience with the Gospel of Christ. If this CD is any indication, then they are accomplishing their goal.
The CD opens with "Promised Land", a country sounding tune featuring Kelly. You'll even hear a touch of a mandolin in the track. It's a song of hope and encouragement. "The Shepherd's Call" is a nice ballad featuring Jason. It gives a new reflection of the ninety and nine sheep that were safe and how the Shepherd left them to find that one lost soul. "Sacrifice Of Praise" would...Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Stephanie Gwinn "Stephanie Gwinn" (Mount Hope, WV USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Driven (Audio CD) This is a great southern gospel group. I like them better since their parents left the group and its just the younger Crabbs. They are such soulful singers. Their father, who wrote all but one of the songs on this disc, is one of the greatest southern gospel songwriters of today. I am not wild about the songs, "Promised Land", and "You Can't Imagine" but the rest of the songs are great. I would have given it 5 stars if those 2 songs weren't on this disc. This disc has a new version of the song "Through The Fire", this time sung with gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. I love both this version and the last version they released on which Jason Crabb sang lead. Most of this cd is very enjoyable. There are great upbeat songs like: "Sacrifice Of Praise", "Good Day", and "Rahab", plus there are a few nice ballads: "My Keeper" and "Forever". The current single is "He Came Looking For Me". This is a mid-tempo songs sung with a lot of soul. Over all, I love this disk and look forward to many more...Read more |
