Summary: James Wilsey CD 2008-09-01
Comment: Fabulous! This CD is amazing. James Wilsey is the best guitarist alive today and this is an incredible CD. In case you don't know, Wilsey was THE SOUND of the early (good) Chris Isaak music (think Wicked Game and Blue Hotel). If you like twang, reverb, and haunting guitar licks, this is the CD to buy.

Summary: Jimmy Wilsey 2008-07-01
Comment: This is a fabulous record. Jimmy has crafted perhaps the instrumental record of the year! From his days as bass player w/The Avengers to being the "mind behind" the Chris Isaak band (listen to them after he was asked to leave the band), to the "lost years" in LA, Jimmy has always been a consummate player with impeccable chops, taste and style.

This record has been in the 5cd mix from the moment he sent me a demo in Decembr; we listen to it at least once a week. It speaks volumes that I bought some other copies to give as gifts from amazon....

I watched Jimmy from afar in the 70s in the pit at the Fab Mab and other venues, and became friends with him in the late 80s and early 90s. He decamped to LA in the late 90s and we lost touch.

This record is one for the ages, folks. Buy, buy, buy....

Buy this record fools, it will change your life.........

Summary: Wilsey has created a sonic masterpiece. 2008-06-27
Comment: James Calvin Wilsey has created a wonderful sonic soundscape with his El Dorado CD.Fans of Duane Eddy,Dick Dale and even spaghetti western soundtracks will most likely dig this album. The clean reverb washed Stratocaster tones work so well for this type of music and Wilsey's Strat indeed serves him quite well in this labor of love. This CD is not so much for guitar fans as it is for fans of atmospheric instrumental music, with this effort being set to the mood of the great American southwest.I obviously love this CD and highly recommend it to just about all fans of instrumental music.

Comment: Saw this guy back in the 90's with Chris Isaak's band. Totally blew me away. The Cd is great. Total twangsville...

Summary: Take It Jim - Get Gone Cal 2008-05-23
Comment: Jimmy (James) Wilsey got me into surf music in the 80s-90s. This is why I love retro sounding music. I always wondered what had happened to him and I am glad he is back. He is totally important at least to me as a guitarist. His tone is king. Very few people ever have the tone and the depth of a guitarist like him. I recall hearing about him with a band called the Mysteries a couple of years back and then nothing.
While I still dig Chris Isaaks band and they are top notch, his sound is more adult contemporary now. He has a different sound without Jimmy. But you can only be in the Shadows so long. I hope it isn't his last CD for 14 years.
