"One thing I know, the world's been good to me. A better place awaits, you'll see".
The opening track on "Ghost on the Canvas" of "A Better Place", paints a picture of a man who has seen many good and bad times throughout his life. He has accepted that the world has been good to him, and that a better place (Heaven and the twilight of his life) awaits. The title track which was penned by Glen Campbell and producer Julian Raymond sets the tone for this beautiful album.
"Ghost on the Canvas" has a real spiritual quality to it. It is really an open book, where the author (Glen Campbell) takes you on a journey through his life. He doesn't sugar coat his missteps or failings, but learns from them. I don't know if I've heard a more spiritual or heartfelt album than "Ghost on the Canvas".
I have been a fan of Glen Campbell's since I can remember. I was born in the mid eighties and was introduced to Glen as the voice of the rooster "Chaunticleer" from the...Read more

"Ghost On The Canvas" is a beautiful swan song for Glen Campbell.,

Glen Campbell is a music legend. If this album is his last, then it is a fine one. "Ghost On The Canvas" is a pretty love song. This song has a relaxed tone with goregous musical arrangements. This song reminds me of a poem with all the different images of ghosts and a wheat field. This tune is very romantic. "A Better Place" is a beautiful song that features Glen playing the acoustic guitar. This is a song about coming to terms with his mortality. It is a song about having a spiritual faith that I like very much. Nothing But The Whole Wide World is a song by Jakob Dylan, but Glen conveys a wisdom in his vocals. This truly makes this song his own. "Strong" is an autobiographical song about how Glen feels about living with Alzheimers disease. Glen expresses his fear of living with the disease in the song, but I detect a sense of his inner strength listening to this song. "There's No Me Without You" is a song about an enduring love. Billy Corgan and Brian Setzer lend their...Read more

What a beautiful album! It is heartfelt, honest, and beautiful to listen to. I am so grateful for the experience of listening to this. I am also grateful for the existence of musicians like Glen Campbell who sing about something deeper than bling, booty, and childish posturing. This album has great songs, beautifully performed and recorded. Thank you.
