I am not a musician and lack the vocabulary to properly describe this soundtrack. But I must say that Clint Eastwood's score for the movie "Hereafter" is mellow and haunting. Perfect for kicking back and relaxing. There is not a single part of it that I dislike. No fast or loud parts to interrupt the mood that is established at the very start and continues throughout.
Each of the various tracts on the cd flows relatively seamlessly into the next one. There is a unifying theme throughout making this soundtrack sound like one song. I cannot quite pin it to any one category. It has a little bit of a jazz flavor, but I would not classify it as jazz. The guitar parts are particularly beautiful. If you want something smoothe, soft, and memorable, this is it.
This is Eastwood's own composition and he does a terrific job. What a talent.

Clint Eastwood's Touch,
March 16, 2011 This review is from: Hereafter: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
HEREAFTER as a soundtrack is successful because it allows the moments of Clint Eastwood's compositions find space to appreciate them. His music is basically piano based - the best part of the score is in the end credits portion. Otherwise this is music for easy listening, with those portions of the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto #2 carefully chosen to enhance Eastweood's wwriting. And afterall as director and composer it is his decision to combine the classics with the contemporary in such a mellow way. Grady Harp, March 11

I loved this movie. It is a quintessential Clint Eastwood movie.
The music is awesome (I like jazz and blues).
The subject matter is interesting. The characters are wonderful.
