A great introduction to his music, November 2, 2010

This review is from: Hits Alive (2 CD) (Audio CD)If you only know Brad Paisley thru his hits, you only know half the story. His lyrics are both humorously clever and easy to relate to. His full albums are loaded with these types of songs, but if you want the hits, "Hits Alive" is a must have. Spanning two discs, the first disc, "The Hits", is just that, including the new single, "Anything Like Me". The second disc, "Alive", is just a small sample of what a Brad Paisley concert experience is like. He could have easily done a double live album but even that wouldn't have been as much fun as the actual concert is. What I thought was very cool album this album is how he went from the studio hits into the live tracks. The song "Online" begins as the studio track but about 3/4's of the way thru switches into the live version, and the live tracks begin. The album ends in the same way once again with the live version end of "Online" switching over to the studio version end.
This is a great album and is highly recommended, if you like...Read more

This is not what I wanted!, November 11, 2010

This review is from: Hits Alive (2 CD) (Audio CD)I have always been fustrated by record companies who think we want a "greatest hits" collection to contain versions of the songs that are different than the originals. Here we have six songs that are only presented with new live recordings, four songs that are on the album twice, and one song that was never released as a single. Missing are several songs that were released as singles, the two highest charting being "Wrapped Around" and "Welcome to the Future".
I assume compilations like these are put together by marketing geniuses to try and squeeze and much money out of us as possible. The casual fan wants as many familiar songs on one CD as possible, the hard core fan wants to have the new versions in their collection AND it leaves the door open for another "True Hits Collection" in the future. Of course we have this one conveniently in time for Christmas.
I'm truely a big fan of Brad Paisley's music and what is on this disc makes for some great listening,...Read more

This review is from: Hits Alive (2 CD) (Audio CD)Hits alive is sort of a letdown. You don't get studio and live versions of every song and their are some key songs missing. It is still a pretty good greatest hits album but for these flaws I can only give it 3 stars.
