3.0 out of 5 stars Roy goes international., June 28, 2003
This review is from: Hits the Road (Audio CD)
As a huge roy fan for several yrs now, i have bought each and every album he has put out to date. This one is not one of his better ones and by the looks of it ole' Roy might be coming to the end of the line. Its not that he isnt still the best prankster out there, I guess its just that he has done it all and is running out of ideas. The first 7 albums were mostly pranks on phil and brents friends....then the friends of their friends. Then he progressed on to "yankees" ( city people), which i thought was one of the best in its own way. On this one the title is somewhat decieving. You het the idea it is all foriegn calls but in actuality there is only about 5 calls to other countries: france, italy, spain, and amsterdam and scotland. The rest are his usual local calls here in the states.

It turns out his typical redneck calls to people here in the states are the funniest calls. The foreign calls just are not that funny considering most of the people cant even understand him very...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Roy D is back...and better than ever!, August 6, 2003

This review is from: Hits the Road (Audio CD)
With this album, Roy D. Mercer flexes his sizable comedic muscle and heads into new territory. This theme based album (built around stories and calls related to Roy's travels) contains calls to the U.S and overseas (the call to a "coffeeshop" in Amsterdam is one of my favorites) and there are some nice added extras (like the fishing report and the "message" you can put on your answering machine.) There's even a "Roy D. Rap" at the end...not really a rap, more of a "rant" over a funky bluegrass track.

Roy's been doing the calls for so long, it's great to see him take some chances! Some calls are funnier than others, but overall, this is an album you definitely want to have in your Mercer collection!
