This review is from: Home (MP3 Download) There was a time in my life that I would have meant "radio friendly" as an insult. However, making music is both an art and a business. There's nothing wrong with doing what you love and making some coins at the same time. The songs are just too good for me to resent Dierks for backing away from the bluegrass sound of "Up On The Ridge". Once again. it's a good helping of "pickup truck anthems" with loud guitars tempered with intelligent ballads that don't resort to schmaltz. Even "Home" manages to say "hey, I'm proud of my country" without resorting to the "you're either for us or against us" ugliness that certain artists used to cash in on the Iraq war not too long ago. I may not live on the main street of Nashville but as long as Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley are around, I'll continue to drop by. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By J.R. Tate "Author" (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Home (Audio CD) I have purchased every Dierks Bentley album that has come out and have loved each of them. Each one has it's own personal touch by Bentley. This one only gets four stars because I feel he should've included more emotional stuff, rather than most being about drinking and partying. I know he's evolving into his own style and "fingerprint" on country music, but I hope he isn't going in the direction of yet again another part guy in the music scene. All in all, the album has good lyrics and music... I just wish he would've included more love ballads and emotion on some of the tracks. "Home" is by far the best track on the album. If he would stick to that type of music, I would've given it a better rating. I still love Dierks Bentley's stuff. He's an amazingly talented man and for the most part, the album is a good one. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By 72dierks "mom5" (croton on hudson, ny United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Home (Audio CD) Not sure how anyone cannot give HOME 5 stars. Dierks consistently put out solid records. Have been a fan for a long time and this is the best album yet, not counting the brilliant Up on the Ridge. You will not be disappointed in any track. He perfectly combines bluegrass, country and a little rock to obtain his signature sound. This is one record that has not stopped being played since it came out last week. You will not be disappointed, get the album. |
