If you are looking for a quality cd with Cajun music in French this is one too hard to pass up.There are very few cd's with original cajun folk songs in French only.This one is unique because it's performed by an all female quartet!Most cajun songs were traditionally sung by men. These old favorites were slightly changed to suite the ladies singing them . If you are of Cajun descent or just like the culture , you'll probably recognise some old favorites and fall in love with the new ones . Of the old favorites are Madame Sousthène , La valse à Bélisaire and Allons danser Colinda. The new additions include Reviens pour Noël .This one is a French version of "Pease come for Christmas "written by the ladies.The crown jewel of the collection is La Grâce du Ciel or Amazing grace. HAVINE BEEN BORN AND RAISED IN BASILE, PERSONALLY KNOWING DEWEY BALFA AND NATHAN ABSHIRE, PRIVLEDGED TO BE THERE FOR MANY OF THEIR PREFORMANCES IN THE 60'S, ALSO HAVING A LARGE COLLECTION OF TRADITIONAL AND PROGRESSIVE CAJUN MUSIC THIS RECORDING IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. A TRUE EXAMPLE OF KEEPING THE CULTURE ALIVE.
