Customer Rating: Summary: Library of Congress Archive 2000-07-30 Comment: The 13 tracks on this CD have been selected from the Library of Congress Archive of Folk Culture where recordings are stored of cowboys and old cattlemen singing these songs from the Texas cattle trails years ago. The singers are not professional singers, they are men who knew the cattle and the hardship of the old drives. You liked LONESOME DOVE? These are the songs those men would sing. I am 66 and a native Texan; my grandfather was a trail-driver and sang these songs to me when I was a child. The music is authentic, sentimental, sometimes funny. There are even cattle calls included. An excellent record.
