5.0 out of 5 stars Great Live recording of a Great Live Band, October 5, 2010

The Avett Brothers have been known for years as an incredible live band. They've toured tirelessly for a decade, building a strong following ("The Avett Nation"). They've had a previous collection of live recordings - "Live, Volume 2" - recorded in small clubs in North Carolina. This is a great recording taken from a homecoming concert in Charlotte, and does a fine job of capturing their amazing energy on stage.

No new songs here, but consistently energetic versions of favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Surprise!!, December 26, 2010

I had caught some of these guys on a special on the Palladia channel. I told my wife about them and she surprised me with the album on Christmas. I can't get enough of it. The Avett Bros. are not just talented, but fun and entertaining. I have not been able to say this about a full length album (live or studio) for quite some time. Great from the opening note to the last bounce. If this performance does not get you up and out of your seat, making you want more - check your pulse!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, October 23, 2010

I wouldn't have thought that the Ballad of Love and Hate could be improved on, but this is one of the most moving vocals you will ever hear a man sing. This comes amazingly close to seeing an Avett show. Recording quality is excellent, not at all the dry, lifeless sound Rubin has produced before. But this today, see them ASAP!
