I've seen him in concert a number of times. All that doesn't mean that I am not objective when it comes to his music though. His past couple of albums have not been up to par. I want the old Kenny music back. A mix of upbeat and slow songs, songs about the beach and songs about growing up and everything else, but not just slow songs about the beach. Most of the songs on this album would not ever hit radio if it wasn't Chesney singing them. There are a few good ones, like Way Down Here, but for the most part everything sounds the same and is not real creative, musicly. So, for now, I will just "go back" and listen to some of his old stuff until he comes out of this musical mid-life crisis. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Claja99 "Claja99" (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lucky Old Sun Deluxe (Audio CD) I first heard this CD while staying with my sister as she coped with the loss of her husband. This CD played automatically at 8 A.M. in her kitchen audio system, and was her "wake up call" each morning. We both took great comfort from the lyrics and melody of the lead song, "I Am Alive." The rest of the album continues the affirmations of living life to it's fullest while that is still an option. I just had to have this wonderful album in my own collection. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Lucky Old Sun Deluxe (Audio CD) I love Kenny Chesney songs. While he may not be the best singer in the world, his songs are so easy to relate to and many make me wish I was on the beach. This album has three collaborations, including "I'm Alive" with Dave Matthews that has great sounding guitar and is a very deep song, and the title track "Lucky Old Sun" with Willie Nelson which is a song that rings true to Kenny's style. This album has less of the summer anthems that Kenny is well known for, but it a nice addition to his discography. |
