In 1987, the Jerry Garcia Band played a legendary two week run of shows at the Lunt-Fontanne on Broadway with the last show on Halloween. Each show was opened by the short lived Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band turning in a set and followed by Jerry's Electric Band. There were problems from the start however, as the Fire Chief thought the theatre might be lacking and a near cancellation of shows. John Cutler was recording these shows on DAT and at one point, the management wanted him to destroy the tapes. He palmed the real ones and destroyed blanks. Many people think that Almost Acoustic was recorded at these shows but when it was released, I'm pretty sure that Relix reported that release was recorded at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
The performances are very good but this gets three stars because the sound quality is below par...Read more

Some smokin moments but some terrible mixing on some electric stuff. The acoustic sets are ok. Overall, almost acoustic is the jerry disc to own. Plain and simple

I can't believe they decided to release this on cd. The sound quality is really bad.
