On the second disc, Handpicked Songs 1955-62, stars of Country, Rock, Folk and more pay homage to the Louvin Brothers by handpicking a track each for this brilliant compilation of archive Louvin Brothers recordings. Each track is performed by the Louvin Brothers. The full list of handpickers includes Mark Lanegan, Graham Nash, Beck, Emmylou Harris, Will Oldham, Lucinda Williams, Jim James, Kris Kristofferson, Devendra Banhart, Chris Hillman, Zooey Deschanel, The Black Angels, Dolly Parton and M. What an intriguing concept: 14 original Louvin handpicked songs coupled with the classic and remastered "Satan Is Real" album that's considered a high point in country gospel and by some the pinnacle in all the Louvins did. There's only one double: Are You Afraid To Die (Handpicked by The Black Angels). Half of the handpicked songs are in other collections (Knoxville Girl, Cash on the Barrelhead) but another seven are great and out of left field: The Great Atomic Power (Handpicked by Beck); I See A Bridge (Handpicked by Emmylou Harris). Together a great two albums put together by Light In The Attic.
