Product Review

Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope artist Lauren Alaina released her debut album, Wildflower, on Oct. 11, 2011.

"I have always dreamed of making an album and I can't believe it's actually happening," she says. "It's because of the fans who voted for me on American Idol that I am here, so I am dedicating this album to them. I hope they love it!

"I feel like it has a flavor for everybody. It's a mixture of all different songs, so I hope it will appeal to all different kinds of people. There are fast songs for people who like up-tempos that you can dance to, and there are also tearjerkers for people who like slower ballads. I tried to get songs that are all a little different so that we could bring a fresh feel to each and every song."

Sixteen-year-old Lauren was the runner-up on Season 10 of American Idol. A record-breaking 122.4 million votes were cast for Lauren and winner Scotty McCreery, and 38.6 million viewers tuned in to see the finale. The project's debut single is "Like My Mother Does," which she performed first on American Idol. The video for "Like My Mother Does" was released on Monday and can be seen on CMT and GAC.

For the album Lauren recorded "She's a Wildflower," written by Hillary Lindsey, Steven McEwan and Gordie Simpson, and Lauren connected so strongly with the song that she chose Wildflower as the album's title. "Wildflower is the perfect name for my first album," she says. "I would consider myself a wildflower because wildflowers are sweet, but then they have a little bit of spunk to them - they are `wildflowers.' I like to have a lot of fun and I'm really sassy, so I feel like a wildflower would be a good description of who I am as a person."

Lauren had a unique recording experience with her first album. Because she was on the American Idols Live! Tour, she recorded in several studios across the United States with producer Byron Gallimore in addition to holding several sessions in Nashville. "I really enjoyed working with him," she says of Gallimore, who has worked with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Lee Ann Womack, among others. "I was nervous at first because I thought it was going to be really intense and hard and maybe even intimidating, but he made me feel right at home. I consider him family now. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a lot of fun."

I have to be honest, I'm not that much of a country fan, but I'm a fan of this local young lady who I first heard performing karaoke at a local place called Magoo's. She can sing ANYTHING and not just country music. This album has to be by far my favorite country album in many years. I have liked Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, and other country ladies, but I have to admit this album could out sell some of the other artists that are out there and have been around for years. I could easily see this album having at least 5 singles and most or all going to #1. Tracks #4 "The Middle", 5 "Like My Mother Does" , 8 "The Locket", and 12 "Dirt Road Prayer" could be tear-jerkers for many sensitive individuals, like myself. When I first hear Track 8, "The Locket", I nearly had to pull off the side of the ride if that gives you any idea of the emotional nerve this song struck. I have to say I enjoyed hearing every song and didn't skip past any, which happens with many albums from many...Read more

What an amazing voice Lauren Alaina has! Every single song is a possible hit. Her newest single is Georgia Peaches, and that song is so catchy and well sung it is sure to be a hit. 18 Inches was written by Carrie Underwood and I think that may turn out to be the best selling single of this potentially hit packed album. Lauren's version of Wildflower is also the best one I've heard. This album showcases the type of music Lauren loves, from country to rock to pop. Georgia Peaches is country rock, The Middle is Country Pop and reminds me of a Taylor Swift Song. 18 Inches was a Carrie Underwood co write, and Carrie thought enough of Lauren to allow Lauren to record this, and she does an amazing job. The Locket is a BEAUTIFUL story of a young girl helping her grandmother remember her true love, reminiscent of The Notebook. One of Those Boys is another probable hit. The saucy lyrics and up tempo melody match Lauren's personality so well. Funny Thing About Love is a Lauren...Read more

Lauren Alaina is such a talented singer and this album definitely shows how talented she is! When I first bought this, I didn't expect such beautiful songs. My favorite is definately "dirt road prayer" and I think that is most people's favorite song. It's amazing how people of all ages will like this album, and I'd really suggest people to buy it!
